Shimla, Aug 17 (IANS) No case of swine flu has been reported in Himachal Pradesh in the past more than three months, Health Minister Rajeev Bindal said here Tuesday.

‘No case of swine flu has been reported in the state since April,’ Bindal informed the state assembly in a written reply.

He said 50 people have tested positive this year for swine flu out of 206 samples collected till July 31.

‘The toll due to the disease in the state so far was 16. Out of these, 10 patients, who belonged to the state, died in hospitals outside the state,’ the minister added.

The testing facility for H1N1 in the state is available at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla and the central government’s Central Research Institute at Kasauli in Solan district.

Since the outbreak of swine flu in India in April last year, 1,833 people have died so far. The World Health Organisation has reported the official global H1N1 toll at 18,449.
