Bangalore, Oct 7 (Inditop.com) With two new swine flu deaths being reported in Karnataka, the toll due to the H1N1 virus in the state reached 103, a health official said here Wednesday.
Both the deaths have been reported from Bangalore.
While an 18-year-old boy died in a government hospital Oct 3, the second victim, a 38-year-old woman succumbed to the flu in a private hospital here Oct 5.
However, reports confirming that both the victims tested positive for the virus were received only Oct 6, a health official said.
With approaching winter, experts fear the swine flu pandemic might rise further.
“People should take all preventive measures, which includes avoiding crowded places and maintaining personal hygiene. People with swine flu symptoms should immediately check with doctors and get needful tests done,” Principal Secretary for Health I.R. Perumal, told Inditop.
Out of the 103 swine flu deaths reported in Karnataka, 70 were registered in Bangalore and rest from other parts of the state.
On Tuesday, 27 fresh cases tested positive for H1N1 influenza in the state. Out of these cases, 20 were reported in Bangalore, and one each in Bagalkot, Bijapur, Bellary and Gadag and three in Chitradurga.
With this the total number of positive cases in the state has reached 1,113, the official added.
