British dance stars BASEMENT JAXX have been dropped by their record label XL.
The duo, which has worked with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Missy Elliott, has ended its 10-year relationship with the Beggars Banquet imprint, after reaching the end of a five-album deal – and XL haven’t offered the pair a new contract.
But Felix Buxton – one half of the band – insists Basement Jaxx will continue to record and tour, without a label.
He says, “XL haven’t offered us a new deal, but I didn’t imagine they would. You don’t need a record company now – they aren’t so relevant. All you need is someone to distribute your music. Besides, you only make money through touring now”.
