London, April 19 (Inditop.com) Hollywood actress Kate Winslet has returned to work after calling off her seven-year marriage with filmmaker Sam Mendes.
The Oscar-winning actress was pictured in New York filming scenes for her forthcoming television show “Mildred Pierce”. Donning a 1940s-style floral tea dress with matching brown coat, hat and shoes, it seemed the 34-year-old slipped into the role of Mildred with ease.
Set during the ‘Great Depression’, “Mildred Pierce” is the story of a middle-class housewife who divorces her husband and goes on to raise their children on her own, reports dailymail.co.uk.
The HBO series is based on the novel of the same name by James M. Cain. It was made into a critically acclaimed film in 1945, which landed Joan Crawford Best Actress Oscar for her role in the film.
Meanwhile, the “Revolutionary Road” star managed to put on a united front with Mendes for the sake their children. The couple have a son named Joe together, and Mia, Winslet’s daughter from her first marriage to assistant director Jim Threapleton.
