KATY PERRY has no qualms about becoming a tough girl when she guest judges AMERICAN IDOL auditions in Los Angeles this month (Sep09) – she wants to be as honest as possible.
The I Kissed A Girl singer is a big fan of the TV talent show and a devotee of Simon Cowell’s no-mess critiques of hopeless wannabes.
And, although she thinks the acid-tongued Brit is an “a**hole” she can see the odd couple becoming friends.
She tells Eonline.com, “I might become a little bit of a buddy with Simon because whenever I watch that show, as much as he’s an a**hole, he’s a very truthful, honest a**hole.”
And hopefuls in L.A. needn’t think she’ll be a cute pop star telling them lovely things about their talents or lack of them.
She adds, “I don’t want to break their hearts, but how many of us know that one person that has been trying and trying, and doing karaoke and little gigs here and there at, like, an open mic (night). And nobody has told them they can’t sing in pitch.
“I might be that gal to tell you the truth.”
Perry is one of the many top-name stars who have agreed to step in and replace Paula Abdul, who quit the show last month (Aug09).
