New York indie band TV ON THE RADIO will take a year off to concentrate on other projects following their mammoth world tour.

The group has been on the road since the release of Dear Science last September (08), which was voted the best album of 2008 by both Rolling Stone and Spin magazines.

Lead singer Tunde Adebimpe announced the planned hiatus following their concert at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival on Saturday (29Aug09), revealing it was their last gig for some time.

He says, “We’ve decided to take, well, the going theory is to take about a year off, because you have to go and live a life and change things up.”

The frontman, who claims the bandmembers suffered “basic cabin fever” from their time on a tour bus, insists the break will benefit the musicians: “It’s great we’ve been able to do it for so long, but everyone’s kind of got other projects they want to tend to.”

Multi-instrumentalist/producer Dave Sitek is completing an album with Pink Noise, and guitarist Kyp Malone is releasing a solo track under his stage name Rain Machine later this month (Sept09).
