Gandhinagar, May 28 (IANS) Nineteen Pakistani fishermen, who have been languishing in a Gujarat jail, were released Friday, officials said.

‘They will be handed over to the Pakistani authorities at Wagah border on May 31,’ Manish Lodhari, secretary of the Fishworkers Forum, said.

The Pakistani fishermen left Porbandar Friday night for Amritsar from where they will proceed to the Indo-Pakistan border checkpost.

The fishermen on board the Pakistani fishing craft Gul-e-sarvar fell into Indian hands when they transgressed the marine boundary two years ago.

A police officer said they would be handed over to the Pakistani authorities Monday.
