New Delhi, June 15 (IANS) Twenty-two Indians have been arrested in Britain for working illegally in the country, the British High Commission said here Tuesday.

A press release issued by the high commission said 22 Indians were part of a group of migrants arrested after a raid on a dairy in Acton, West London.

‘The UK Border Agency will now take steps to remove them from the UK,’ it said.

The Indians were arrested for various offences, including illegal entry, working in breach of their visa conditions, and overstaying their visas.

The dairy owner now faces a fine of up to a quarter of a million pounds.

The head of the UK Border Agency’s Ealing Local Immigration Team, Olivia Nuttall said that illegal working was ‘not a victimless crime’.

‘It has a serious impact on communities, undercutting wages and taking jobs from those who are genuinely allowed to work in the UK,’ she said.
