New Delhi, July 9 (IANS) A 38-year-old man Friday electrocuted himself and his two minor sons in the Kapasera area, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Rajiv, who ran a food stall outside his Bijwasan residence in southwest Delhi, and his two sons – Hrithik, 10 and Rohit, 6.

A call was received by Kapasera police station around 9.20 a.m. from Rajiv’s neighbour that he was lying unconscious at his house no. 523 along with his sons.

A police team rushed to the area and all the three were taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

Police investigations revealed that Ravi was suffering from acute depression after his wife, Kamlesh, 30, died almost two months ago.

‘The growing financial burden was adding to his woes and may have ostensibly triggered the suicide bid. We also questioned his neighbours who said he hardly paid attention to his children,’ a police officer said.

‘He first tied the legs and hands of his sons with electric wire and then finally knot it around himself. He then plugged into the electric socket,’ the officer said.
