New Delhi, Feb 29 (IANS) A 66-year-old man lost his life allegedly after he was shoved by a police constable who was engaged in a heated argument with his son in south Delhi, police said Wednesday.
Anil Kumar was travelling in a car with his 32-year-old son Mohit Arora when the incident took place on the night of Feb 28-29. They were residents of east Delhi’s Geeta Colony.
“Mohit was driving under the influence of alcohol and a constable, Vikram Singh stopped him for checking. Arora, however, was defiant that he was sober, resulting in a heated argument leading to a scuffle between them,” said a police official.
Meanwhile, Anil Kumar tried to intervene and was pushed away by Singh who lost consciousness and fell to the ground. He was rushed to Safdarjung hospital where he was declared dead.
“The medical report of the deceased has not indicated any external injuries. However, the medical report of Arora has confirmed that he was drunk,” added the official.
According to police, a case has been registered and transferred to Crime Branch for further investigation.
