New Delhi, June 13 (IANS) Delhiites will experience a hot day Sunday with the weather office predicting rise in the maximum temperature — but the capital can look forward to rain in the next few days.

The temperature is likely to go up to 44 degrees Celsius, above average for this time of the season, said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The minimum temperature was recorded at 28.1 degrees, one notch below average. ‘However, the temperature is likely to rise during the day,’ the official said.

‘The sky will remain clear and there are no chances of rain today (Sunday),’ the official said.

The official said while monsoon is likely to arrive on its normal scheduled date of June 29 in the capital, some rainfall can be expected in the next few days owing to western disturbance.

‘There are chances of thunderstorm and duststorm in the next few days. It may bring some rains Monday or Tuesday.’

‘As the western disturbance continues, it will have widespread effect over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh,’ he said.
