New Delhi, May 31 (IANS) After a pleasant weekend when the mercury level stayed around 40 degrees Celsius mark, heat and humidity were back in Delhi Monday. According to the weather office, the maximum temperature at 42.5 degrees Celsius was two degrees above the average.
‘There is no more rain, thunderstorm or duststorm expected for the next few days. Just like today (Monday), it will be clear skies tomorrow (Tuesday) with the minimum and maximum temperatures hovering around 27 and 44 degrees Celsius,’ said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here.
The minimum temperature was two notches above average at 26.1 degrees. The humidity was recorded at 55 percent.
Shweta Sharma, a marketing professional who often has to be outdoors on work, said: ‘The weekend was god sent…the weather was so pleasant! But now that the week has begun, the unbearable heat has also made a comeback.’
Ravi Verma, a student, said: ‘I went to Delhi University (DU) to collect application forms today (Monday) and had a tough time battling the heat. Thankfully, I had carried a packet of glucose, so I just kept mixing that with water and sipping it.’
On Sunday, the maximum temperature was 39.2 degrees Celsius, two degrees below average for this time of the year.
