Srinagar, Feb 22 (IANS) The army Saturday said it has recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition at Kamalkote village in Uri sector of the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Alert Indian troops of the Dagger Division along with police recovered a cache of arms in the general area of Kamalkote yesterday (Friday),” a defence spokesman said here.
The cache was hidden inside a crevice underneath a huge boulder and included three AK rifles with three magazines and four pistols with five magazines, he said.
The army is maintaining strict vigil in the area to thwart any attempts by terrorists to hide more arms in remote areas.
Earlier Saturday, Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh, commander of the Srinagar-based 15th Corps, told the media that after the snow starts melting and mountain passes open up, there was a possibility of guerrillas trying to sneak into the state.
He, however, said the army was prepared to meet all challenges.
