New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS) Delhi-based designer duo Ashima-Leena have crafted some 4,000 outfits for the performers at the elaborate and extravagant opening and closing ceremonies of the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games (CWG).
Leena says it was an honour to be part of the CWG team and that a lot of effort have gone in to make the mega event a success.
‘Though a lot negative (things) have been written about the CWG, but let me tell you a lot of preparations are also going at the same time to make this event a success,’ Leena told IANS.
‘We have been working on this project for around eight months now and everything has been proper and very smooth. We never had to face any difficulties,’ she added.
Leena didn’t divulge any details about the garment designs and construction but explained they are ‘difficult constructed garments’. And the designer-duo have already started delivery of the clothes.
Apart frorm them, Mumbai-based Ana Singh is also designing for the CWG participants.
Some 7,000 participants and officials from 71 countries and territories are expected to attend the Commonwealth Games, India’s biggest sporting event after the 1982 Asian Games.
