Guwahati, May 31 (IANS) A Bodo militant faction in Assam Thursday warned the authorities against staged shootouts in the name of anti-insurgency operations.
Reacting to the killing of one Simul Boro in Kamrup district Wednesday, the faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) led by its jailed chairman Ranjan Daimary said the outfit would kill 20 people against killing of one innocent Bodo youth by the security forces.
Assistant information and publicity secretary of the organisation B. Samijing informed this in an emailed statement to media.
‘The National Democratic Front of Bodoland strongly condemns the killing of Simul Boro in the name NDFB by security force yesterday (Wednesday). Boro was not the member or cadre of NDFB,’ the statement said.
‘The government should not test our patience. The authorities should not repeat the blunder. One=Twenty is our standing resolution. We warn the government to exercise utmost restrain from fake encounter or killing any innocent Bodo youths in the name of insurgency,’ it added.
NDFB said if its calls are not responded with honour the government will be responsible for any untoward incident in the future. It appealed the people of the community to remain watchful about ulterior motives of the government on Bodo people.
The leader of the Bodo militant faction Daimary has now been languishing in Guwahati Central jail after being caught in Bangladesh in 2010.
