New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS) The murder of a 51-year-old businessman in east Delhi by a call girl gang is an isolated case and it is the only known gang in the city to have robbed its clients after sedating them, police said Friday.

‘It was an isolated, individual case. Till now, we have not got any information on any other such gangs operating in the city,’ a police officer told IANS.

Delhi Police Tuesday found the body of businessman Ramnath Singla in his Maruti Swift car in Pandav Nagar area after people complained of ‘terrible stink’ from the car.

The police got a breakthrough in the case Thursday and arrested three members of a call girl gang operating from Shakarpur area in east Delhi.

According to Rajiv Ranjan, investigative officer of the case, gang leader Sheetal, 25, called Singla to her house in Shakarpur and served him liquor. Once the businessman was drunk, she robbed him of Rs.2 lakh and smothered him to death with the help of her husband Ravi, 26, and brother-in-law Ajay Kumar, 36.

‘They killed him because he sensed their intentions, otherwise usually they just robbed a person. They have robbed a few others but no police complaints were registered. The gang recently stole Honda Civic of a doctor after sedating him,’ said a police officer.

According to Ranjan, the gang supplied call girls as escorts to rich businessmen and industrialists in Delhi and the national capital region.

‘They often robbed their clients under sedation. And their target usually were the rich who are unlikely to lodge a complaint. The gang had a huge number of call girls from various parts of the country,’ Ranjan said.
