New Delhi, July 28 (IANS) A former Jharkhand chief minister Wednesday asked the central government to declare the state drought prone and immediately send it relief.
‘Rainfall is less than average. The centre must declare Jharkhand drought prone and relief should be sent immediately,’ Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader and former state chief minister Arjun Munda told reporters outside parliament.
‘The average rainfall is 590 mm while only 200 mm of rain has been received so far. Due to this only 15 percent of the sowing could take place,’ Munda said.
The Lok Sabha member from Jamshedpur said the issue will be raised in parliament.
