New Delhi, June 2 (IANS) It was another day of battling the heat and dust Wednesday with the minimum temperature in the capital the highest in five years for a June 2 day at 34.2 degrees Celsius and the maximum settling at 42.8 degrees Celsius, two notches above average.

Met officials said the minimum temperature was recorded at 34.2 degrees Celsius, six degrees above average, breaking the June 2 record of the last five years.

The maximum temperature was recorded two notches above average at 42.8 degrees Celsius, an official said.

‘The dust raising winds are strong. Cyclones developed off the Gujarat coast and the western disturbance have had a mixed effect giving rise to duststorms all over,’ the official said.

The situation is likely to be no different Thursday as the met department predicts similar weather conditions.

The maximum temperature is expected to remain at 42 degrees Celsius while the minimum is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius.
