New Delhi, Oct 7 (IANS) Commonwealth Games Federation chief Michael Fennell Thursday regretted that three Ugandan officials were injured in a freak accident at the Commonwealth Games Village.
‘We regret that very much. It’s being investigated. This has caused some damage to the officials. Security has been raised,’ Fennell told reporters.
Uganda’s chef de mission William Tumwine, administrative officer Iren and press attache Juliet were injured Tuesday night when a tyre killer malfunctioned at the Games Village, police said.
‘Their car was damaged but they received minor injuries only. They were taken to the polyclinic inside the Village for treatment and were discharged in a few hours,’ Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat told IANS.
Sadhana Dewal, project officer of the polyclinic in the Games Village, said the officials were healthy and back at work.
Four people, including the driver, were inside the car at the time of the incident.
