Mumbai, Jan 9 (IANS) Five labourers were killed and one was seriously injured Sunday when a service lift of an under-construction building came crashing down here, an official said.

According to Chief Fire Officer U.K. Tatkare, the cause of the service lift crash is not known.

‘The locals and police had rushed the victims to the Sion Hospital and then we were informed,’ Tatkare said.

According to police, the service lift of an under-construction 25-storied building, opposite the Ruia College in central Mumbai, in which the six labourers were seated suddenly crashed.
