Raipur, Jan 5 (IANS) Four people were nabbed in Chhattisgarh with skins of the Barasingha deer, an endangered species, police said Wednesday.

They were in their early twenties and were arrested late Tuesday at Barnaud village in Dhamtari district, some 100 km from here.

‘Acting on a tip off, we chased a Maruti van in a forested zone and recovered the barasingha skins, which are valued at Rs.150,000 in the international market,’ Rajendra Singh, a local crime branch official, told IANS over the phone.

The police suspects them to be members of an inter-state poaching gang.
