Gandhinagar, Sep 1 (IANS) The Gujarat High Court has asked the state government to consider paying its fixed-wage contractual employees in consonance with the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations.
‘A decision should be taken within three months and communicated to all the establishments and the registrar general of this court,’ a division bench of Chief Justice S.J. Mukhopadhyaya and Justice Akil Kureshi said in an order made available Wednesday.
The order came on a public suit filed by the Shree Yogkshem Foundation for Human Dignity in 2009 on issues related to class three and four employees.
‘The government will also consider to do away with contractual appointments by making the posts regular if a fixed-pay post is continued for more than three years,’ the court ruled.
