New Delhi/Jammu, Dec 1 (IANS) In a swift rescue operation, the Indian Air Force (IAF) Wednesday made 15 sorties and airlifted 11 civilians injured in a bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. Six people were killed.
Forty people were injured in the mountainous Rajouri district when the bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and rolled down a deep gorge.
An IAF spokesman in Delhi said Chetak and Cheetah helicopters carried out 15 casualty evacuation sorties from Kalakot to Jammu to ferry the seriously injured to a specialised hospital in Jammu, the winter capital of the state.
The accident occurred when the overloaded minibus was on its way from Kalakot to Tatapani in Rajouri district, some 150 km from Jammu.
