Shimla, June 18 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh continued to experience hot weather Friday with the day temperature crossing the 40 degree mark in Una town, a met official said.
Una town was the hottest in the state with a high of 41.6 degrees Celsius. On Thursday, the maximum temperature in Una was 40 degrees.
‘Temperatures remained on the higher side in the state due to lack of rainfall,’ Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office, told IANS.
Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a maximum temperature of 35.9 degrees Celsius while Dharamsala, the headquarters of Tibetan government-in-exile, was seven notches above average at 35.4 degrees. On Thursday, it was 36 degrees and 34.2 degrees in Sundernagar and Dharamsala respectively.
State capital Shimla was at 27.3 degrees, three notches above average. On Thursday, the day temperature in Shimla was 25.7 degrees.
The met department said the weather would largely remain dry Saturday.
