New Delhi, Feb 7 (IANS) Thieves targeted a jewellery shop owner in north Delhi as he was closing for the day and shot him and his servant when he tried to resist, police said Monday. Both are in a critical condition.
‘Ghanshyam was closing his shop around 10 p.m. Sunday when suddenly two bike-borne assailants came there and first tried to snatch the bag with jewellery and cash from him. When he resisted, they shot him and his servant and fled with cash and jewellery worth Rs.4.5 lakh,’ said a police officer.
The police control room was told about the attack and a team reached the spot. ‘We rushed the two to Saroj Hospital where their condition is critical. The doctors said Ghanshyam suffered bullet injuries in his neck and stomach and Akash suffered a bullet wound in his leg.’
A case has been registered at the Maurya Enclave police station. ‘We are investigating the matter. Till now, no arrest has been made so far,’ said the officer.
