Ranchi, May 22 (IANS) Jharkhand’s ruling JMM-BJP coalition led by Shibu Soren is in the ‘intensive care unit (ICU) and incapable of doing any good for the state’, former chief minister and president of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) Babulal Marandi said here Saturday.
Addressing a two-day party conclave, which began Saturday, Marandi justified his move to quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2006 and said: ‘The BJP is playing low level of politics to grab power. People of the state should judge the character of such political forces working in the state which boast big and do precious little in the interest of the state.’
Speaking at the conclave in Jagannathpur Kutte maidan of Ranchi, Marandi also pledged to fight insecurity, hunger and corruption in Jharkhand.
‘Our motive is to fight bhay, bhookh and bhrashtachar (insecurity, hunger and corruption) and reach out to the poor and deprived sections of the society and work for their betterment,’ he said.
Marandi also criticised Jharkhand’s ongoing political crisis, caused by a power struggle between the ruling coalition, and held the political parties responsible.
The two-day JVM-P conclave saw an impressive gathering of thousands of workers. A huge marquee has been erected on more than 200,000 sq ft area on the outskirts of Ranchi. The conclave has been called to discuss the political crisis in the state.
