Srinagar, June 18 (IANS) Around 50 pro-independence Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) activists, including its chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Friday courted arrest here beginning the group’s week-long agitational ‘jail bharo’ programme.
The JKLF activists’ march was led from the party’s headquarters in uptown Maisuma locality of the city by Malik.
The marchers shouting pro-independence slogans and against the Indian security forces for alleged violations of human rights in Kashmir reached the nearby city centre Lal Chowk.
Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were deployed in strength in the area.
