Ranchi, Dec 2 (IANS) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren said the death of Maoist leader Kishenji was ‘not good for the country’, inviting sharp reaction from political leaders.
‘Kishenji was a big leader. His death is not good for his party and not for the country,’ Soren, chairman of the ruling JMM-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance steering committee, told reporters in Jamshedpur.
Koteshwar Rao alias Kishenji was killed in a shootout with security forces in West Bengal last week.
Soren’s statement has invited sharp reaction in the political circle.
‘This is the personal view of Shibu Soren,’ Baijnath Ram, Jharkhand Education Minister who is also a BJP leader, told reporters.
Marxist Coordination Committee’s (MCC) lone legislator Arup Chatterji said: ‘Soren is a big leader and he should not come out with such statements.’
