Kolkata, Sep 26 (IANS) The Communist Party of India (CPI) Sunday said West Bengal’s ruling Left Front should not ‘run like a one-party rule’.

CPI general secretary A.B. Bardhan, without naming anyone while taking a dig at the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), here said that every party should get its due respect.

‘Currently we are having a Left Front government in the state. We are also part of this. We have to prepare for the coming assembly elections from now. The big party has to come forward and take the initiative. The Left Front should run like a front and not like a one-party rule. While doing seat-sharing, please don’t follow family planning methods that you cut out the reproductive duct and say that only two kids per family,’ said Bardhan said at a party meeting here.

The CPI is a prominent partner of West Bengal’s ruling Left Front government led by CPI-M.

‘Every party should get its due respect and place in the Front. According to our strength we are being given only few seats during assembly elections. We should be given more seats,’ Bardhan said while talking to reporters at the sidelines of the meeting.

Earlier after a series of electoral setbacks, prominent Left Front allies like the Forward Bloc (FB), the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and the CPI had blamed the CPI-M for its big brotherly attitude as one of the main reasons behind the poll debacle.

‘It is not that only the CPI has to win the polls. As a whole the Left Front has to win in the coming elections. We are part of the Left Front,’ added Bardhan.
