Ranchi, Dec 13 (IANS) A 21-year-old woman, who got married last week in Jharkhand, snapped ties with her husband to stay with her woman lover, police said Monday.
Malti, a resident of Sarvodaya Nagar of Chas in Bokaro district, married Shailendra Bharti, 30, of the same district. She revealed to her husband within three days of marriage that she had a relationship with her girlfriend Priyanka and wanted to stay with her, a police official said.
The official said Malti also revealed to her husband that she was forced into the marriage by her family. ‘She told Bharti she did not want to continue the relationship with him.’
Hearing this, Bharti’s family members approached the police station and the husband sought divorce. ‘The families of Malti and Bharti tried to convince Malti to live with her husband, but she was adamant and said she wanted to live with Priyanka. Bharti and Malti mutually agreed to divorce each other,’ the police official said.
‘We sent Malti to her parents’ home.’
‘We are trying to help Malti to lead a happy married life with her husband,’ the police official told IANS.
