New Delhi, July 23 (IANS) She is different. A stage with a dinner table lying on one side and a makeshift staircase on the other with models chatting casually… designer Pallavi Jaikishan made sure she brought something new to her show at the ongoing Pearls Infrastructure Delhi Couture Week.
This Mumbai-based designer has participated in two seasons of the Mumbai Couture week and has introduced the refreshing concept of models chatting, blowing kisses and dancing on the ramp. She did something similar here Thursday with French music adding the zing.
Indeed, it was a welcome break from looking at poker faced models.
As far as Jaikishan’s collection was concerned, it had a feel of the old world. Sexy cocktail saris, blouses in velvets, majestic lehngas, draped blouses and vintage lace skirts with scarves dominated the lines.
A lot of Victorian embroidery, applique and minakari were used with a wide range of colours starting from various shades of gold, silver to saffron, peach, lemon, purple, pink and burnt gold.
‘My line is meant for to-be-brides and it has a lot of nostalgic feeling because I have been inspired a lot by the Victorian era. So it is all about leaning towards the past and digging out the best from there,’ Jaikishan told IANS after the show late Thursday.
