Ranchi, July 28 (IANS) Myanmar’s military ruler General Than Shwe would be arriving in Jharkhand’s steel city of Jamshedpur Thursday and visit the Tata Motors plant there, an official said Wednesday.

‘The Myanmar ruler will arrive in Jamshedpur at 11.15 a.m. on Thursday by a special flight and fly back at around 2.30 p.m. The Myanmar ruler is to visit the Tata Motors plant,’ Jamshedpur Deputy Commissioner Himani Pandey told IANS.

Tata Motors officials were, however, tight-lipped about the visit. ‘We cannot disclose anything,’ Ashish Ray, corporate communication chief of Tata Motors said over phone from Mumbai.

General Than Shwe held wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday, and India and Myanmar signed five pacts, including a key one to boost counter-terror cooperation.
