Jaipur, Oct 13 (IANS) C.K. Birla Group company National Engineering Industries (NEI) has won the 2010 Deming Application Prize for achieving distinctive performance improvement through the application of Total Quality Management (TQM).

The Deming Prize is one of the highest awards on TQM in the world. It is awarded by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE).

TQM is a management concept coined by W. Edwards Deming. One of the principal aims of TQM is to reduce errors during the manufacturing or service process and increase customer satisfaction.

NEI is one of the largest domestic bearing manufactures with gross annual turnover of Rs.800 crore in 2009-10, having a market share of 25 percent. The company exports bearings to more than 20 countries.
