New Delhi, June 24 (Inditop.com) Massive power cuts and water shortage in the sweltering summer Wednesday compelled Delhiites to come out on the roads and protest across the national capital.
Restless people blocked traffic at many places and shouted slogans against the Delhi government for failing to provide water and power.
“We are not left with any options but to protest and on Thursday we have decided to organise sit-in outside houses of legislative assembly members,” said Arun Kumar, a resident of Khanpur south Delhi.
Angry over the power and water shortage, a group of people approached Paharganj police station in central Delhi demanding to register a “missing” complaint of water.
“We are not getting water and power for last several days but there is nobody to listen to our woes. We tried to meet our area municipal councilor (MC) and member of legislative assembly (MLA) but they are missing. So, we thought to register a ‘missing’ complaint of trio – water, MLA and MC,” said Nirmal Kaur, a resident of Paharganj.
However, police have not registered any such complaint yet.
The rotational load shedding across the capital Tuesday was between 20 MW to 300 MW. The power cuts across the capital lasted for two to nine hours in various parts of Delhi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members walked out of the Delhi assembly, protesting water and power shortage in the capital. The assembly budget session is being held at present.
