Chandigarh, Oct 31 (IANS) Drivers of state-owned public transport and government departments in Punjab will no longer be required to be personally liable for accident claims, an official said Monday.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal announced Monday after a meeting with leaders of Punjab employees agitation committee that government drivers will not be liable for accident claims.

‘The chief minister also assured the committee that the advice relating to the accident claims involving the drivers of all government vehicles to be borne by the state government in future would be issued within a day,’ a spokesman said here Monday.
