Raipur, Feb 25 (IANS) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh termed the railway budget for fiscal year 2011-12 presented Friday by Mamata Banerjee as ‘highly disappointing’.
‘South East Central Railway (SECR) is the highest profit making railway zone of the country and the railways earns a lot of money from Chhattisgarh. But the budget has let down expectations of people of Chhattisgarh. It’s a highly disappointing budget as it was in the last fiscal too,’ Singh told reporters.
The SECR is headquartered in Bilaspur, 110 km from here.
Singh said that he had personally met Banerjee recently and had also written letters about building up rail infrastructure in the state, but his ‘all demands were overlooked as she focused only on presenting a West Bengal-centric budget’.
