New Delhi, July 31 (IANS) The Supreme Court Tuesday came down heavily on the Odisha government for its failure to nominate a lawyer to appear in nearly half a dozen cases that had to be adjourned.
Taking a serious note of the non-appearance of the government’s counsel before it, the apex court bench of Justice T.S. Thakur and Justice Gyan Sudha Misra said “should this government not appear before us”.
Pulling up the state’s Principal Law Secretary Debabrata Dash, the court said that it will “treat (this) as a misconduct and direct the (state) government to place him under suspension”. Dash was present in the court.
