New Delhi, July 24 (Inditop.com) The Supreme Court Friday suspended a Jammu and Kashmir High Court order that asked two senior police officers of Shopian district to seek bail only from the high court, after their arrest for alleged involvement in destruction of evidence in a case related to rape and murder of two local women.

A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and P. Sathasivam asked the officers — Superintendent of Police Javed Iqbal Matto and Deputy Superintendent of Police Rohit Baskotra — to directly approach the sessions court in the district to seek bail.

The apex court also directed the sessions court to hear the bail plea of two officers on merit without getting influenced by the high court order and observations in the case earlier.

The Supreme Court two days earlier had also suspended that part of the high court order which had directed narco analysis of the two officers.
