Nagpur, Dec 1 (IANS) At least seven people were burnt to death Saturday when a bus halted on a highway in Maharashtra due to a mechanical fault suddenly caught fire, police said.
The dead included two women and two minors, and the incident took place on the Nagpur-Hinganghat highway, police officer Ajay Awachat told IANS.
“As the driver and his assistant were examining the engine, it was suddenly engulfed in flames, catching them unawares,” the officer said.
“However, they escaped with minor injuries but the passengers were hit badly,” he said. Six other passengers suffered burns.
