New Delhi, March 11 (IANS) A civil society group campaigning against the declining sex ratio in India Tuesday asked political parties to show political will to eliminate sex selection.
The National Civil Society Campaign against Declining Child Sex Ratio is an umbrella group of over 200 civil society organisations and activists from across the country.
“We urge political leaders to constitute a parliamentary forum on the declining child sex ratio to devise a comprehensive policy approach for tackling the issue,” the group said.
“We also demand the commitment of political leaders to strategically strengthen the implementation of laws and policies concerning women and girls and to enact laws that tackle their subordination which gives rise to practices such as gender-biased sex selection,” a release quoted the group as saying.
