New Delhi, July 29 (IANS) Hitting a six off Kapil Dev had always been British Prime Minister David Cameron’s childhood dream — and he was finally able to realise it Thursday during his two-day India visit.
It is another matter that the former Indian cricket captain bowled a tennis ball to the British prime minister at the National Stadium here.
At the joint press conference here with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Cameron said he was able to fulfil his ‘childhood dream’ when he hit a ‘six’ against Kapil Dev.
‘I was allowed to fulfil a childhood dream when I hit a six against Kapil Dev. Though he was throwing a tennis ball instead of a cricket ball, which would have been a bit more difficult,’ added Cameron, smilingly.
Cameron had gone to visit the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium to view Commonwealth Games facilities, and among the delegates was Kapil Dev, who captained India’s World Cup winning team in 1983 in London.
At the venue, Cameron wielded the willow for a few shots while Kapil Dev bowled to him.
