Noida, Aug 18 (IANS) A 21-year-old B.Tech student of a private engineering college died under mysterious circumstances on the campus situated in Sector-62 here, police said Wednesday.

Rahul Dhameja, a third year B.Tech (electronics and computer science) student of JP Institute of Information Technology (JPIIT) was found dead on the college campus on Tuesday night around 8.30 p.m., Superintendent of Police (City) H.N. Singh said.

According to police, Rahul, a resident of Rohtak in Haryana, was found lying unconscious in a park between the college building and the hostel.

College staff and students rushed him to hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Some college students alleged he died of due to electrocution due to accumulation of rain water.

Angry students took out street protests outside th college campus over the authorities alleged negligence. The agitation started in the morning and lasted through the day.

The enraged students demanded resignation of hostel warden and action against others responsible for the negligence.

Meanwhile, the college denied that the boy died due to electrocution.

‘There was no loose wiring. All our wiring is underground. We are checking as to how he died,’ a college official said.

‘A post mortem has been conducted on his body. We are awaiting the report. On its basis, a case would be registered,’ Singh said.

‘Rahul’s body has been handed over to his parents,’ he added.
