Kolkata, June 15 (IANS) Suspected Maoists Tuesday killed two brothers in West Bengal’s troubled West Midnapore district, police said.
The bodies of Sambhu Singh and Sunil Singh were recovered from Chakadoma in Belpahari area.
The Singh brothers were supporters of the Jharkhand Party (Aditya) but they later joined the People’s Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCAPA), which is considered the frontal organisation of the Maoists.
‘The killings were a result of the internal rivalry within the PCAPA,’ a senior police officer said.
‘We have recovered both the bodies. Investigation is on,’ West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Manoj Verma said.
The PCAPA was formed in November 2008, within days of a landmine explosion in West Midnapore district’s Salboni area in which West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s convoy had a narrow escape.
Maoists are active in West Bengal’s three western districts of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia.
