Manali, Jan 4 (Inditop.com) Fresh rain and snow led to a dip in temperatures across Himachal Pradesh as popular tourist resort of Manali experienced moderate snowfall, the met office said Monday.
Temperatures across the hill state plummeted following fresh snow and rain, Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office in Shimla, said.
“Manali received moderate snowfall Monday morning. It saw four to five inches of snow,” he said, adding: “This was the season’s second snowfall in Manali. The first was recorded Nov 9.
He said the minimum temperature in Shimla dipped Monday morning after the rainfall. It recorded a minimum of 2.1 degrees Celsius, a decline of 5 degrees from Sunday.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded a fall in the night temperature. It dipped by 0.9 degrees from Sunday’s minus 8.3 degrees.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district witnessed a minimum of minus 6 degrees, a decline of 2.8 degrees from Sunday.
Likewise, Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a low of 7.1 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu 4.8 degrees and Dharamsala in Kangra district saw 2.9 degrees.
Singh said higher reaches of the Himalayas in Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba, Kinnaur and Kullu districts also had fresh spells of snowfall.
The Met office predicted mainly dry weather in lower and mid hills and rain or snow at isolated places in the higher hills Tuesday.
