Kolkata, Sep 7 (IANS) Three people were arrested Tuesday in connection with the alleged suicide of a youth, police here said.
According to the police, 21-year-old Robin Jain – a salesman at a shopping mall on Camac Street – allegedly committed suicide following humiliation at the work place. His body was found near a railway track Monday at Accra station in South 24 Parganas.
Three senior employees of the mall, Bishankar Dutta, Abhijit Singh and Ajoy Das, have been arrested for abetting his suicide. They were later presented before the local court and remanded to seven days of police custody.
Jain, a resident of northeast Kolkata, did not return home Sunday morning after work.
A complaint was lodged with the Shakespeare Sarani Police station.
‘During investigation, it was revealed that Robin was forced by the three to write a letter to the manager saying he had been caught red handed accepting Rs.100 as bribe and thus he has been terminated from service. He was also locked up in the mall Sunday night,’ said the officer.
‘There are allegations that Robin had come to know about some unlawful practices of the three accused and thus he was forced to write such a letter, so that he could not divulge their corrupt practices to the mall authorities,’ he added.
