Kolkata, Nov 3 (IANS) A 10-day exhibition showcasing tribal art has been inaugurated by central Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Ranee Narah.
“These exhibitions should be organised more often to promote tribal art,” Narah said at the inauguration Friday.
Organised by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd, the exhibition has on display 150 paintings by tribal artists across India.
“Every piece is different because artists are influenced by nature and their day-to-day activities. Their trials and tribulations and their festivals are reflected,” said Sarmistha Maiti, curator of the exhibition.
The exhibition is set to travel to 10 cities across India.
