Srinagar, July 1 (IANS) Two Indian Army soldiers were killed in Jammu and Kashmir Thursday when they tried to foil an infiltration bid from Pakistan, officials said.
The two Rashtriya Rifles soldiers were killed in an ongoing gunfight in Machil sector of the Line of Control (LoC), which divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
Lt Col J.S. Brar, spokesman of the army’s 15 Corps, told IANS that Rashtriya Rifles troops challenged a group of infiltrating guerrillas in the Machil sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
‘Two jawans have been martyred in the gunfight which is still going on,’ he said.
