A senior police officer told IANS that the troops of 42 Rashtriya Rifles were laying a cordon around Inder Gadoora village early Saturday following information about the presence of a group of militants.
‘The cordon-laying party was fired upon by the hiding militants, causing injuries to two jawans who have been evacuated to army’s base hospital in Srinagar.
‘The security forces had to move in cautiously to ensure no collateral damage was caused to civilian life and property in the village. The militants appear to have made good their escape,’ said a police officer here.
