New Delhi, June 25 (IANS) Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna Friday expressed satisfaction that projects related to the Commonwealth Games will be completed well on time.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the Games village, Khanna said all the projects were progressing well.

He also directed developers and officials to concentrate on completing the remaining touch-up work at the earliest. He also said the highest standards of quality be maintained in all the projects.

‘Everyone wants the Games to be not only memorable but also the best ever games. The task should be done in the most professional manner to meet the requirement and challenges of the Commonwealth Games,’ he added.

Khanna reviewed construction at all the 34 towers in the Games Village.

An official said the Games village may be handed over to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the first week of July.

The biggest worry of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) earlier was the tardy progress on the Games Village, which is being constructed by Emaar-MGF, with costs escalating to Rs.1,038 crore (over 200 million USD). It had earlier received a Rs.700-crore (15 million USD) bailout package from the DDA.
