Nabha (Punjab), Aug 13 (IANS) A 24-year-old man, accused of mercilessly killing four members of his family in this Punjab town, has been arrested and will be produced in court Friday, police said.
Amrit killed his parents Iqbal Singh, 55, Jaswinder Kaur, 50, grandfather Hameer Singh, 75, and sister Gurjagjit Kaur, 18, Thursday morning at a house in Preet Colony in Nabha town of Patiala district, around 50 km from Chandigarh, police said.
‘Amrit was annoyed with his family members as they were against his marriage with a girl of his choice. He murdered them with sharp-edged weapons and a licensed pistol of his father,’ Harbhajan Singh, a police officer, told IANS.
‘He was arrested late Thursday. Earlier, he said he had gone to his college in Patiala at the time of the incident. But during rigorous questioning, he broke down and confessed to the crime,’ he said.
‘In the post-mortem report, bullets have been found in the skulls of three deceased,’ he added.
